Today I’m joined by Annie Frisbie, who just finished fifth at the 2025 New York City Marathon in 2:24:12 — the second-fastest American performance ever on that course. Annie has quickly become one of the most consistent and exciting marathoners in the U.S., and what I love most about her story is how steady, grounded, and quietly fierce she is. She debuted in New York back in 2021 running 2:26:18 — the fourth-fastest debut by an American woman on that course — and since then she’s continued to chip away, stacking strong, confident races while training with Minnesota Distance Elite. Annie grew up in Wisconsin, ran at Iowa State where she was an All-American in cross country, and now runs professionally for Puma. In this conversation, we break down her NYC race from the inside, including the moments she almost lost confidence, how she’s learning to trust positive self-talk, and what she’s excited about for 2026 and beyond. Annie is thoughtful, humble, and incredibly fun to root for — you’re going to feel so inspired hearing about her process, her mindset, and the way she’s growing into this event. I loved catching up with her so much.
