The United States continued its impressive 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Cuba during Week 2 in Orléans, France. The Americans displayed outstanding teamwork, disciplined defense, and dominant blocking to defeat one of the tournament's most athletic teams by set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-19.

Although every set was competitive through the middle stages, Team USA consistently raised its level during the closing points. Cuba showcased its trademark power and explosive attacking style, but the American block and defensive organization repeatedly denied the Cuban hitters at crucial moments.

The opening set saw Cuba challenge the USA with aggressive serving and powerful attacks from the wings. However, the Americans remained composed, using excellent blocking and efficient transition offense to pull away late and secure the first set 25-21.

The second set followed a similar pattern. Cuba stayed within striking distance for much of the set, but the United States continued to pressure with tough serves and disciplined defense. Setter Micah Christenson expertly distributed the offense, allowing multiple hitters to contribute as the Americans captured another 25-21 victory.

In the third set, Team USA took full control of the match. Their serving disrupted Cuba's reception, while the American blockers consistently shut down the Cuban attack. Balanced scoring and outstanding defensive play helped the USA comfortably close the match 25-19 and complete a straight-set sweep.

One of the biggest differences in the match was the United States' dominance at the net. The Americans recorded 10 block points, frustrating Cuba's high-powered offense throughout the contest. Their ability to turn defense into quick transition attacks made it extremely difficult for Cuba to build momentum.

Micah Christenson once again orchestrated the American offense with precision, while middle blocker Jeff Jendryk played a major role in the team's outstanding blocking performance. Rather than relying on a single scorer, the United States spread the offense across several attackers, making them unpredictable and difficult to defend.

Cuba showed flashes of brilliance with several spectacular spikes and strong serving runs, but struggled to consistently break through the disciplined American defense. Attack errors at key moments and difficulties against the USA block prevented Cuba from converting competitive sets into victories.

With this win, the United States improved to a 4-1 record in the 2026 Men's Volleyball Nations League, strengthening its position among the tournament's leading contenders. Cuba, meanwhile, demonstrated plenty of attacking potential but will look to improve its consistency as Week 2 continues.
