Underwater Self Submersions & Monkey Grips | Building Confidence & Water Safety Skills π¦
Learning to self submerge is a powerful milestone for young swimmers. When children choose to go underwater on their own, they build confidence, independence and breath control in a calm and positive way.
In this video, we show how parent demonstrations can gently encourage children to try new skills. When little ones see a trusted adult model the skill first, it reduces fear and makes learning feel safe and fun.
We also practise monkey grips β holding the pool edge and moving hand-over-hand along the wall. This is a vital water safety skill that helps children:
βοΈ Stay connected to a safe exit point
βοΈ Move themselves to shallow water
βοΈ Build upper body strength and coordination
βοΈ Develop independence in the pool
As always, we work at the childβs pace, keeping learning playful, positive and safe. π©΅
Remember: Active adult supervision is essential around water at all times.
