π STORIES THIS WEEK:
βΆ Des Linden finishes 3rd overall at the 2026 Marathon des Sables β her first time ever running more than 50K, completed in a six-day, 250+ km Sahara stage race. Third place, 30:16:32. Oh, and she's pacing her husband at Boston next week.
βΆ Clarke Reynolds, a visually impaired British runner with just 5% vision, became the first blind person to complete a marathon using Meta smart glasses and the Be My Eyes app β with 400 remote volunteers guiding him through the 2026 Brighton Marathon.
βΆ World Athletics has announced a standalone World Athletics Marathon Championships launching in 2030 β separate from the main World Athletics Championships. Athens is bidding to host. We have thoughts. Hot ones.
βΆ Josh Kerr, one of the world's best milers, has teased his desire to one day run β and win β a World Marathon Major. Could we be watching the early chapters of a future marathon legend?
βΆ Gout Gout (GGO) of Australia ran 19.67 in the 200m in Sydney, breaking the World U20 record and running faster than Usain Bolt did at age 18. At 18 years old, he's already 16th on the all-time list.
