MSU Beats Illinois 85-82 in Epic OT Battle

February 7, 2026: As for the game, we’re pretty sure Jeremy fears will drift into a coma for a few days after playing 42 1/2 minutes. But he was sensational especially down the stretch where he scored 9 points in overtime. MSU of course, trailed at half by 4 and then quickly found themselves down 9. But they kept following their game plan and battled back to keep it within one or two possessions the entire second half. Even briefly taking the lead.

Then at the end of regulation they went up two on a huge 3 from Kur Teng after a big Kohler offensive board off a Teng miss. But two huge fouls shots by Davis with one second sent us to OT. And there MSU just sort of took over. Or more specifically, Jeremy Fears did. And MSU went up 6 with one minute to go and held on for the 85-82 win to keep their slim Big Ten title hopes alive.
