The Orioles fall 4-3 in 10 innings to the Nationals in a game that had everything — solid pitching, late offense, and a brutal ending. Luke Slabaugh breaks it all down on the Orioles Postcast.

Let’s start with Brandon Young:
23 swings and misses. 8 strikeouts. Just 2 runs allowed over 5 innings.
The most whiffs by an Oriole through 5 innings in the pitch-tracking era (since 2008). His four-seam fastball and splitter were electric… and it still ends in a loss.

Offensively, it was a grind. Chadwick Tromp somehow records 2 of the Orioles’ hits, and the lineup leaves 8 men on base while going 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Then came the late drama:
Pete Alonso and Samuel Basallo deliver HUGE RBI hits in the 8th to tie it.

But in the 10th… Ryan Helsley gives up the go-ahead RBI single to Daylen Lile.

And the final gut punch?
Bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th — and the Orioles come up empty.
