At his home Games in London, Chris Hoy became the symbolic figure of British track cycling. In front of a roaring home crowd at the London Velodrome, he claimed two gold medals: one in the team sprint alongside Jason Kenny and Philip Hindes, and another in the keirin, where he prevailed with a powerful final sprint. With these victories, Hoy became the most successful British Olympian of his time - winning a total of six gold and one silver medal over the course of his Olympic career.
