Norway’s Birk Ruud made Olympic history at Beijing 2022, winning the first-ever men’s freeski Big Air gold. The then 21-year-old dominated the event with two outstanding runs, even celebrating his victory with a Norwegian flag mid-air. It was an emotional moment, as Ruud dedicated the triumph to his late father, who had inspired him to chase his dreams. Already a Youth Olympic champion in 2016, Ruud fulfilled his childhood goal of Olympic gold and has since cemented his status as one of freeski’s biggest stars with multiple World Cup titles and World Championship medals.
