MLB has a rule for one specific plant
One of the best things about baseball is the ground rules. No other sport allows for more variety between playing venues, but of course that variety requires slight rule modifications from one field to the next. And then there’s the ivy. Technically speaking, the iconic ivy at Wrigley Field doesn’t have its own ground rule … it’s actually referenced in a whole, universal rule in the MLB rulebook. The ivy is special in plenty of other ways beyond that one, though, so let’s chat.
