This marked a four-game goal streak for Doan. Alex Tuch kept the first period momentum going, scoring off a pass from Bowen Byram. The Rangers got one on the board in the second, but Jason Zucker notched one soon after for Buffalo to hold a 3-1 lead. New York cut the lead to one in the third and Mattias Samuelsson responded with a short handed goal to cement the lead for the Sabres. Ryan McLeod closed the scoring with an empty net goal. Goaltender Colten Ellis made 32 saves in the matchup.
