Sam Short on Dominant Pro Swim Showing: "came in here with a bit of a chip on my shoulder"
Swimming
World Champion Sam Short came into Westmont and, simply put, dominated. He started with the 800 Free, winning in 7:40.98, a new pro swim series record by over 4 seconds. In the 1500, he once again set a pro swim record, touching in 14:52 to break an 18-year-old series record and win by over 15 seconds.
After underperforming by his own standards at the Olympics and World Championships in 2024 and 2025 due to injury and illness, Short has entered this season with a chip on his shoulder. And it's showing.
