Shanghai Diamond League Recap: Faith Kipyegon, Shacarri Richardson, Mondo Duplantis
Running
The Diamond League's opening day in Shanghai delivered chaos, surprises, and great performances. Faith Kipyegon won the women's 5,000 but left observers with questions. In the steeplechase, Peruth Chemutai nearly got DQ'd celebrating too early. Two of the most unlikely Diamond League winners in recent memory emerged: 33-year-old Mark English in the men's 800 and German Mohamed Abdilaahi in a historically deep men's 3,000 that saw 14 men break 7:30. Shericka Jackson dominated the women's 200, while Olympic 800m silver medalist Tsige Duguma turned heads with a stunning 1500m debut in the same race.
