Most beginners struggle to hit solid shots because they lack proper impact compression and wrist loading in their swing.
In this video, PGA coach Kerrod Gray and @GeorgeGankasGolf demonstrate the best drills for new golfers to use to strike the ball cleanly. They start with an impact drill using a ball placed 10 inches behind to build angle of attack and shaft lean. Then demonstrate a takeaway drill using an alignment stick to hinge wrists correctly.
