“If Cape Verde can hold two world champions, why can’t Scotland?”
Max and Barry chat with Osasu Obayiuwana about Scotland manager Steve Clarke’s resignation and where it all went wrong for Scotland.
Osasu thinks that Clarke did a good job in getting Scotland to their first World Cup in 28 years and believes that their dearth of major tournament appearances has its roots in a lack of playing talent, which in turn points at deeper structural issues within the technical setup of the Scottish game. Despite that he sees no reason why Scotland can’t pull off the types of upsets that Cape Verde have managed at this tournament. By contrast Barry feels like Clarke was holding back a talented group of players and had he not jumped, he would have been pushed by the SFA.
