Sabrina Ionescu came home. The Valkyries made sure she left empty-handed.
Golden State topped the New York Liberty 76-67 on June 29, 2026, finishing their three-game homestand undefeated and capturing their third straight win. The defining moment came late in the second quarter — clinging to a one-point lead, the Valkyries went on an 11-0 run in the final 1:48 to blow the game open. Cecilia Zandalasini hit a deep three, Kayla Thornton knocked down a late-clock three, Gabby Williams drained a 30-footer, and Janelle Salaün capped it at the rim to send Ball Halla into a frenzy.
Golden State never trailed and held Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu — a Bay Area native returning home — to just 9 points on 3-of-10 shooting. Kaila Charles led the Valkyries with 13 points, Thornton added 11, while Zandalasini and Salaün each chipped in 10. Veronica Burton bounced back in a big way, posting 8 points, 8 assists, and a jaw-dropping +25 plus-minus.
Jonquel Jones led New York with 21 points and Breanna Stewart added 15, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Valkyries locked down defensively all night long.
