Warriors' Secret 1-3-1 Zone That's Breaking NBA Offenses
Basketball
The Warriors' 1-3-1 zone is brilliant because it breaks every rule you learned in youth basketball. Most teams put their biggest player at the nail, but Golden State uses two guards who can seamlessly switch positions. When Curry slides to the corner while Podziemski closes out to the wing, they're forcing contested shots between two defenders. The zone can morph into a 2-3 on the fly, keeping offenses guessing. Jerry Stackhouse installed this system and it ranked 4th in points per possession last year. Teams struggle because they can't predict which defender will rotate where.
