Why Wembanyama's "Goaltend" Was Actually a Legal Block (Slow-Mo Breakdown)
Basketball
A lot of people called this a goaltend on Wemby. It isn't, and here's why.
Barnes blocks the ball into the backboard first. Once it comes off the glass at that angle, there is zero possibility of it going into the basket. No opportunity to score means goaltending is completely off the table.
The rule is simple: if a ball above the rim is on its downward flight and still has a chance to score, touching it is a goaltend. The moment that chance is eliminated, the protection goes away.
Coach Nick breaks this one all the way down with a ref in the booth. The slow-mo makes it undeniable. #shorts
