Regan Smith Previews China Open, Viewing it as a "Business Trip"
Swimming
Regan Smith had another successful Pro Swim stop in Westmont, winning the 200 back (2:04.9) and 400 IM (4:35) while placing 3rd in the 200 Free (1:56.9). We don't see Smith in the 400 IM or 200 Free often, but seeing as she is competing soon at the China Open (March 19-22), she didn't want to get event fatigue and deciced to switch it up.
Smith is excited to race in China, treating the lucrative opportunity as a "business trip". In addition to appearance fees, athletes can earn $10,000 for placing first in a race, $6,000 for second, and $4,000 for third. The itinerary will be packed, arriving 2 days prior to the competition and having media obligations the day before the 4-day meet starts.
