How a 6'4" Wing SHUT DOWN 7'4" Victor Wembanyama: The Defensive Masterclass Breakdown
Basketball
I've been watching teams figure out how to slow down Wemby, and Phoenix found something interesting. They put 6'4" Royce O'Neale on the 7'4" rookie and it actually worked. The key wasn't the size mismatch - it was having a shot blocker roaming behind to help while O'Neale used his quickness to stay in front. Wemby's still learning to be more aggressive in these spots. He's got the tools to punish smaller defenders but sometimes rushes his shots or gives up position too easily. The league is already adapting to him, which shows just how much respect he's earned. But he'll adapt back - that's what great players do.
