The Buffalo Sabres lost 7-4 to the Calgary Flames on December 8, 2025. Calgary kicked off the scoring quickly, holding Buffalo to a 2-0 first period. The Sabres had a big second period, with Tage Thompson kicking off the scoring on a power play goal. Calgary quickly responded. Thompson's second goal was called back for offsides. Owen Power notched Buffalo's second of the night. Rasmus Dahlin scored late in the second period off a passing play with Josh Norris and Josh Doan. Goaltender Alex Lyon took the net to start the third period, taking over for Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Alex Tuch got Buffalo's final goal of the night in the third, followed by two empty net goal from Calgary
