Breaking Down Hobbs Kessler's 2000m Indoor World Record at New Balance Indoor Grand Prix
Running
Hobbs Kessler smashed Kenenisa Bekele’s 18-year-old world record in the men’s 2000 meters with a winning time of 4:48.79 at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. Grant Fisher finished second in 4:49.48, also under the previous world record of 4:49.99.
Kessler closed with a blistering 26.31-second final lap, capped by an unofficial 13.0-second final 100 meters. That kick came despite early pacing challenges caused by incorrectly set lights. Chris Chavez and Kyle Merber break it all down on the latest episode of The CITIUS MAG Podcast's This Week In Track and Field.
