Bel-Air Country Club, site of this week's Curtis Cup Match, was designed in 1927 by George C. Thomas and was his most impressive feat of engineering and construction. A series of tunnels, bridges, and elevators were constructed in order to traverse the property's canyons, with the most dramatic at the par-3 10th hole. After an elevator ride from the ninth hole players must cross the 350-foot Swinging Bridge to access the green.
