The third match of the Italian Volleyball League Playoffs 2026 quarterfinal series between Valsa Group Modena and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza delivered high intensity, dramatic rallies, and a thrilling finish in front of the passionate crowd at PalaPanini. With the series tied before this match, Game 3 became a crucial battle that could shift the momentum of the entire playoff series.

Piacenza started the match with strong energy and immediately put pressure on Modena with aggressive serving and solid blocking. Their attack worked efficiently in the opening set and they quickly built a lead that Modena struggled to recover from. Piacenza controlled the tempo throughout the set and secured it 25–17 to take the early advantage in the match.

Modena responded in the second set with a completely different approach. Their passing improved significantly, allowing setter Luciano De Cecco to distribute the ball more effectively and involve multiple attackers. The home team played with much more confidence and energy, dominating the rallies and leveling the match after winning the set 25–17.

The third set became much more competitive as both teams exchanged powerful spikes and strong defensive plays. Piacenza once again managed to apply pressure with their serves and capitalized on several key points late in the set. Their consistency in attack helped them close the set 25–20 and move one step closer to victory.

The fourth set turned into the most dramatic moment of the match. Modena fought hard to push the game into a decisive fifth set, while Piacenza tried to finish the match in four. Long rallies, big blocks, and clutch spikes kept the score extremely tight. The set eventually extended deep into deuce, creating one of the most exciting moments of the playoff series. In the end, Piacenza kept their composure and finally closed the set 30–28, sealing a 3–1 victory and taking the lead in the series.

With this win, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza moved ahead 2–1 in the best-of-five quarterfinal series, putting Modena in a difficult position ahead of the next match. The clash once again showed the intensity and quality of the Italian SuperLega playoffs, where every point and every set can change the course of the series.
