Türkiye vs Poland | Highlights | Women's VNL 2026. Türkiye and Poland faced off in one of the biggest matches of Week 3 of the 2026 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League on July 8, 2026, in Osaka, Japan. In a battle between two of the world's strongest national teams, Türkiye earned an impressive 3-1 victory after four hard-fought sets.
The final score was Türkiye 3-1 Poland, with set scores of 27-25, 20-25, 25-19, and 25-19. The match lasted approximately 125 minutes and featured several momentum swings before Türkiye took control in the final two sets to secure an important victory.
The opening set was extremely competitive from start to finish. Türkiye built an early advantage, but Poland responded through strong attacking and determined defense to level the score multiple times. Both teams exchanged points in a tense finish before Türkiye narrowly claimed the set 27-25.
Poland bounced back in the second set with much better blocking and attacking efficiency. Stefano Lavarini's team controlled most of the set and deservedly won 25-20, leveling the match at one set apiece.
From the third set onward, Türkiye raised its level considerably. Melissa Vargas became nearly unstoppable in attack, while Türkiye's serving and blocking put constant pressure on the Polish offense. Türkiye dominated both the third and fourth sets by identical 25-19 scores to complete a deserved 3-1 victory.
Melissa Vargas was once again the star of the match. She finished as the top scorer with 23 points, leading Türkiye's offense throughout the contest. Vargas repeatedly delivered crucial points during the decisive moments of the third and fourth sets, proving once again why she is regarded as one of the best opposite hitters in the world.
Another major storyline was the return of middle blocker Zehra Güneş, who made her comeback after missing the first two weeks of the Volleyball Nations League due to injury. Her presence immediately strengthened Türkiye's blocking and overall defensive organization. Unfortunately, the match also saw Sinead Jack-Kısal suffer an injury, creating concern for the Turkish team heading into the remaining matches of Week 3.
Poland entered the match after an excellent start to the 2026 VNL and once again showed why it is considered one of the tournament favorites. Magdalena Stysiak, Julita Piasecka and Julia Szczurowska were among Poland's most productive players, but the team struggled to consistently break through Türkiye's improved block and defense after the second set.
Several tactical factors proved decisive in Türkiye's victory. Melissa Vargas consistently scored under pressure, Türkiye's blocking became increasingly effective as the match progressed, the team's aggressive serving disrupted Poland's reception, Zehra Güneş added stability in the middle after her return, and Türkiye committed fewer unforced errors during the closing stages of the match.
This victory gave Türkiye its seventh win of the 2026 Women's Volleyball Nations League and strengthened its position in the race for the Final Eight. It also allowed Türkiye to move ahead of Poland in the standings, while Poland suffered only its third defeat of the tournament before facing an extremely demanding schedule against other top-ranked teams.
Overall, the match lived up to expectations as one of the highest-quality contests of the 2026 Women's Volleyball Nations League. Both teams displayed outstanding volleyball, but Türkiye's superior attacking power, led by Melissa Vargas, together with the successful return of Zehra Güneş, ultimately proved to be the difference in a deserved four-set victory over Poland.
