The Angels matched that offensive output against the Twins, with Mike Trout scoring three times, while the Guardians blanked the Royals behind Joey Cantillo’s eight shutout innings. The Mariners topped the Cardinals with Randy Arozarena’s three-run blast, and the Dodgers handled the Rockies, powered by Teoscar Hernández’s two homers. The Jays outlasted the Astros in a wild finish, the Rangers held off the Brewers with a late stand, and the Rays edged the White Sox. The Cubs rolled past the Braves, the Orioles walked off against the Pirates via Samuel Basallo’s heroics, and the Nationals outslugged the Marlins, with Josh Bell continuing his hot streak. Separately, Anthony Rizzo’s retirement announcement highlighted his stellar career as a Cub, marred by concussions that may have cost him a Hall of Fame path.
