Already without two of their best players, goalie Igor Shesterkin and defenseman Adam Fox due to injuries, the Rangers could ill-afford to surrender both a power-play goal and a shorthanded tally in their 5-2 loss to Buffalo. Captain J.T. Miller, Braden Schneider and head coach Mike Sullivan all felt the team played a strong game overall and generated plenty of scoring chances but didn't capitalize on their opportunities the way the Sabres did.
